Views of Kaenae Peninsula

Using aerial drone and digital camera photography, I have put together a brief ‘portrait of Maui island.’ Enjoy ome views of Kaenae Peninsula you might not otherwise experience….

The Ke’anae Peninsula was created from an immense lava flow originating from Haleakala Crater. Today, it is home to a few local residents, taro fields, animals grazing and world-class fishing. It’s known for its wonderful opportunities for capturing photos of the North Shore’s powerful waves crashing against Maui’s black, jagged lava rocks.

Jacaranda mimosifolia

Portraits of Maui Island: The Jacaranda tree blossoms in mid spring on the lower upcountry slopes of Maui’s 10,000 ft. Haleakala displaying its beautiful blue/purple flowers.  Though the image here is of a young solitary tree, they can grow quite large and often line roads providing very scenic images which are often the subject of painters and photographers.

The Best Free Activity on Maui

There are many activities to do while on Maui but one of the best, and free, is sightseeing. And, one of the places to see some sights is Ho’okipa, a picturesque beach on the north shore renowned as a place for surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing, which is a lot of fun to watch. When the surf is up, the waves crashing against the rocky point is mesmerizing. So, whether visitor or resident, pack a lunch and head on over to Ho’okipa Beach and enjoy the free sights to see….

The Many Moods of Maui

As a photographer on Maui, I, like other photographers on Maui, will head out to some area specifically to take pictures. One such area, about half way to Hana, is Kaenae Peninsula. When it’s kind of stormy and the surf is a bit rough, the area can be very photogenic. In this particular picture, taken mid morning in early January of this year, specific filters have been applied to give it a painterly effect….

The Farther Reaches of Zip Code 96753

Kihei, Maui is the central hub of the south shore. The Kihei zip code is 96753. But, its also the zip code for Wailea, a little beyond Kihei and a bit more upscale with various resorts including  Andaz, Grand Wailea, Four Seasons and Kea Lani. Beyond Wailea is Makena, zip code 96753. Makena has some beautiful homes and condos, and some gorgeous beaches. Watching a sunset along a Makena shore can be one of the most peaceful, tranquil, mesmerizing, mind altering, body calming experiences one can have. Should you come to Maui, and even if you live here, be sure to take a late afternoon drive out Makena way….the farther reaches of zip code 96753.
